Kemptron was established following Kemppi Oy’s decision to separate its power electronics manufacturing into an independent company. Backed by Kemppi’s long-standing history and deep technological expertise, Kemptron was well positioned to secure its place in the power electronics niche market.

To support its strategic objectives, Kemptron needed a brand identity that would stand out in the market, conveying both quality and memorability right from the launch. It was clear that building a new brand identity goes beyond visual design and messaging – it enables the company, its employees, and customers to gain a clear and deep understanding of its character, purpose, and way of operating.

Solution

Our work began by establishing a deep understanding of Kemptron’s business landscape, including its opportunities, challenges, and underlying foundations. Drawing on insights from a survey, interviews and discussions, background materials, competitor analysis and a group-level brand analysis, we were able to distill the core elements of Kemptron’s brand identity.

The defining message and promise: “Focus on power electronics.” was found early on in the process. Clear and concise, this message leaves no ambiguity about the field in which Kemptron operates and where its expertise lies – with Kemptron focusing on power electronics, the customer can focus on their core competence. The tone of voice guidelines reinforce the core message and ensure the brand is communicated clearly and distinctively to target audiences at all touchpoints.

The visual identity is inspired by the world of electronics, specifically the solder joint. This concept, known as ‘The Trace,’ bridges the brand’s visual appearance with Kemptron’s core business while serving as a flexible graphic element for all visual messaging.
