Introducing 35 hotels into the Scandic brand

Scandic Hotels is the largest hotel chain in the Nordic countries with approx. 280 hotels and 16,000 employees. In Finland alone Scandic employs over 2,300 people in 70 hotels in 31 different cities. In December 2017 Scandic Hotels bought the hotel business of Restel Ltd, including all Cumulus hotels from a number of cities in Finland and hotel Seurahuone in Helsinki. The acquisition made Scandic the biggest hotel chain in Finland, and the new hotels were re-branded as Scandic hotels during spring 2018.

SOLUTION

Consulting and producing materials

For the purposes of producing materials for their 35 new hotels, our longstanding customer Scandic Hotels needed a partner to share the workload with. Our team was already familiar with Scandic’s tone of voice and visual guidelines, and we had already established a fluent way of communicating together with the customer. We began working on the project in late 2017 and produced the last materials in June 2018.

During the re-branding process we produced a large amount of materials for the new hotels prior to their reveal date. Together with the Scandic team, we took part in gathering data on the Cumulus hotels. Based on the data, we wrote content for the Scandic branding team to work with. We produced each new hotel a number of materials such as signs, info materials, restaurant materials and outdoor advertisements. We also worked closely with the customer during the launching period and produced advertising for the new Scandic hotels.

RESULTS

The re-branding was successfully finalized on schedule. We continue co-operating with the new hotels on a weekly basis, producing marketing materials and advertisements for them.
